Default Heated Grips

Looking for input/recommendations for some good heated grips. I ride a Electra Glide Ultra.

I had them on my Heritage. The insides of your hands are nice and toasty, but the outsides get chilled. Get better gloves or even heated gloves.

Default Heated Grips

If your bike is pre-TBW, then I highly recommend Heat Demons. The heat elements are in the bar ends and the controller replaces your clutch lever handlebar clamp. Most heated grips fail due to cable movement on the throttle side. Heat Demons don't move and the controller looks stock.

Everything I have read has been negative regarding the HD heated grips. A lot of failures.

I have them on both of my bikes. 2 years on the RK and 1 year on the Heritage with no problems. I do wear gloves with extra padding on he back of the fingers and at the knuckles. I've ridden as cold as 32 degrees with no problems. I'm sure heated gloves are warmer though but I'm very satisfied with the grips.

I had them on my 04 ULTRA and it was one of the first adds to my new 09 ULTRA, both sets were from harley and I've had no problems. Kinda keeps you warm all over when your hands are warm.

I had heated grips on my 04 FXDX and now my 09 FLHT. I let the dealer install them at purchase time. You don't really *need* them but once you've ridden with heated grips you'll really miss not having them. In really cold weather heated gloves would be my first choice, but the rest of the time the grips are just fine and so convenient. I often find my self turning them on when it's not cold, but not warm either, just to keep me from getting chilled. As we know, if our body just starts to cool it reduces blood flow to our extremities as a survival mechanism. Holding onto something warm does make a difference.
HD's heated grips aren't cheap but they work very well, are nicely integrated, and conveniently controlled on the left grip end. They can get hot too. Turning them much past half way is too hot even through regular leather gloves. Another thing I noticed with the HD's, compared to others, is both grips are even temperature. Usually the left grip, which is in direct contact on the steel handlebar is cooler than the right throttle grip which is too warm.
We've all experienced getting a little chilled when riding and that's when it feels so good holding on to warm, or even hot if you want them, hand grips.

edit; I used them for four years on my FXDX and no problem of any kind with them.
