I'm curious, can the tour pak on the Ultra be mounted like the attached picture for a solo rider...???
I know they make a detachable tour pac solo mount for the softail as my wife has one on her bike... Do they make one for the Ultra..??
You've seen the HD detachable solo rack and it works well. There are potential problems, however:
1. If you have a solo seat with a backrest, like a Mustang, you will find the backrest will be dangerously close to the Tour Pak. If it hits there will be damage to the paint and/or TP plastic. The solution was to move the TP back 1ź" and a tutorial for doing this is here.
If you don't use a backrest there will likely not be a problem with most solo seats, although I understand Corbin solo seats have clearance problems with the solo rack without the backrest. The detachable solo rack does not work with two-up seats or solo seats with pillions.
2. The TP backrest, designed for a passenger, is too high for the rider. I tried it and it leaves a void in the lumbar area of your back. More on this in the tutorial.
model1911a... thanks for the pictures... exactly what I was hoping for... tell me, with your tour pak in the solo position is the pak back rest close enough to lean against..?
Yes.......the pac is there. I suppose the best I can say is it's like a lazyboy.....I love it on long rides. 1100 mile to Sturgis this yr was a ball.....
