I've been buying them off the news stand if I saw something interesting in it. If not, I would just pull out the pages with coupons and put the rag back on the shelf.
I subscribed to it over a month ago, but I still haven't received a magazine.
I had heard of American Bagger for a while but could never find a copy. I have had a script to Hot Bike Bagger for over a year. I did finally get a copy of American Bagger and it was ok. I prefer Hot Bike Bagger better. I may still get a script to American Bagger for 2009 just to have another mag to read.
As far as American bike magazines in general, American Iron & American Rider are the best 2 out there.
Not trying to be a downer here and this will probably get a bunch of people hot but there ain't no good bagger magazines. I say this with sadness because the Harley accessory market needs a TRUE comparison magazine that actually expresses an opinion and makes informed comparisons of products. This is necessary to help curb the runaway prices for anything Harley. Neither of the two periodicals ever gives the reader any comparative view. They simply provide another set of installation insrtructions and call it a "Tech" article some of which are followed by a dyno sheet that is nearly impossible to read. Just read the "Wilwood Brakes Tech" article in the Jan. '09 issue of Hot Bike Baggers. Nowhere do they actually test OR install a set of these brakes. No, it's nothing more than a brief Wilwood catalogue that they're calling a "Tech" article. How bogus is that? If all you're looking for is a bagger catalogue either one of these will do. If you're looking for performance info look to the forums and shops 'cause you sure ain't gonna find any help in the bagger mags. JMO
+1 All these mags do is reprint the marketing materials from the vendors. It's like they are all afraid of losing their advertisers. None of them provides an objective, informed comparison or independent opinion. They are more like catalogs that you have to pay for.
AI is the only magazine I get now. AB and Hot Bike Baggers are both lame IMO. Both have too much fluff and too little 'meat'. The Tech stuff is a joke.
I like Hot Bike Baggers. I know the tech articles are pretty much junk but personally like the other fluff, like pitchers of bikes and the series they did on travelin' Route 66. You want tech articles, AI's Donny Peterson is the man or you can go buy a tech manual and read it for a while.
