Default HELP Burning a CD from iTunes for 09HD

HELP! Who here is familiar with iTunes and doing this for their bikes?

My music is stored on iTunes and I wanted to make a CD for my 09 HD that contained 70-80 songs.

I tried burning a data CD but it will not play on my HD Radio. What is wrong? They won't let you make their downloads into MP3s. What gives? The data CD wont even be recognized on the HD stereo..

I just tried burning a second CD copy as text and I left it set on maximum speed possible. Is that correct? The Harmon Khardon spit it right back out saying "disk error". It plays regular burned CDs that contain about 14-16 songs each. I wanted to make one CD with about 75 songs on it.

Speed choices are:
1X
2X
4X
6X
8X
12X
16X
20X
24X
MAXIMUM POSSIBLE

What should I be selecting?? I choose maximum but they dont work.

you need to get rid of the DRM on the downloaded songs by using a program such as tunebite.. then you can burn them as audio or mp3's.

i think itunes have an invalid file extension, it's not MP3 or whatever

we had a few threads on this on VTF.

it boils down to the radio being typical HD junk, it won't read more than 20 MP3 songs, no matter WHAT i do

some Ford CD players are like that too, a buddies 2008 Escape with a 6 pack MP3 cd only plays the first 20 songs.

i even tried burning them using WinMedia player instead of just drag & drop like a data file.

but yes, the OEM radio will play up to 20 MP3 (give or take a few) songs on a DATA style CD

and it will show the names, artist, song title, whatever.

and they ALL have to be in the ROOT directory. (almost forgot that)

so if you have them in SUB DIRECTORIES, it's not gonna work.

so even if i have ~100 songs on a cd, and only 4 are in the root directory, guess how many songs you have for a 4 hour ride?
one per hour!!

hth?

The problem is the file setting.

You have to change the files from ACC Protected to mp3. Two ways, one is as timvan said to down load a progaram to change the files. The other way is to get a Rewritable CD. and burn your 16 or 17 songs ( make sure your burn setting is on Audio CD) then rip it back into itunes. A little more time consuming but not to bad.

Good luck!

I have an 09 and I recently burned a CD from iTunes and it works great. The key thing is to make the CD into an audio CD. With the iTunes window open, go to the HELP menu and under search type "creating your own audio CD's." A window should pop open to tell you exactly how to do it. With the audio CD's you can only put about 20 songs on it because the songs are not in mp3 format. Good luck. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

I never had any problem with iTunes. If you have the latest version, select "Burn a mp3 CD" when promted. If you have an earlier version, in the preferences /settings/option select advance setting and there should be a "burning tab". Select it and then selct "burn a mp3 CD".

I have a '09 EGC and it work just fine and I burn my CDs at maximum speed.

In addition to what was said above. Your not limited to 20 MP3 songs on the disk. I have several disks that I use on the bike (with the stock head unit) that have well over 200 songs on them. If memory serves me right, the songs are also not all in the root directory but instead are broken up into folders. (only one level deep)

Its not the radio, its the user.

Songs bought on Itunes are not allowed to be burnt onto a CD without some sort of go around. You paid to listen to them on Itunes or Ipod, and thats pretty much it. It doesnt matter which settings you try to burn them at, it wont work.
Tunebite and a monthy subscription to napster will give you all the music you would ever want...pretty much all of it at your fingertips
