I started with the right side. Can't say as far as the clamps were concerned the side would have mattered. But the left side lower does not seem like it wants to fit correctly.

I loosely attached the top bolts so I could move the bottom around and see how the bottom clamp would "sit" on the engine guard and how the lowers would rest on the clamp, then removed the lowers and used a pair of goose-neck pliers to "bend" them into a more friendly position so they'd line up better. Bolts slid right in, no hassle.
