Hey guys... I'm very mechanically inclined so being handy with a wrench is not an issue.
What I'm wanting to know is this:
I bought an 09 Ultra and want to have gear drive cams put in. Is this something a weekend mechanic can do himself and save the "stealer" fees? I know the bike will have to be tuned afterwards and I've already purchased the super-tuner but haven't put it on yet so I'm sure I'll have to pay Dyno time somewhere...
any advice on the best cam and push-rod setup and whether I should be able to accomplish this.
I know a couple of specialty tools will be required, not concerned about that, just the mechanics of the whole process....
Think you should figure out where you want to end up with the motor, just cams wont help that much, 103 kit with complimentary cams would be best. Dont want to dyno too often as it gets expensive. Just think about where you want to end up. Try doing a Search in this forum for HQ 103 or SE 103 and read the threads. That beng said the HQ 500 or 575 is a great cam.
