I've also had a Fuel Pak on my 2007 SG for 10K+ miles with no issues. I did have one scare last year my bike started idling really high at one point on the way to the dealer it was idling at 5000 rpms. The dealer of course told me that the FPs had been causing problems. It turned out that the idle adjuster was loose and then they tried to blame me for that.
Brother!
This all sounds encouraging. Now, I'm not doubting that the SERT or PCIII, as well as others, would give you more tuning possibilities and a finer tune, but are they necessary for just slip-ons and an air cleaner change? Is the Fuel Pak and others like it good enough? Really, the PCIII is plug and play if you get Fuel Moto to download for you. I also understand that the SERT has more options, but man, is it expensive. Some say that simple isn't always the best, but I bet it is also just fine many times.
I've been posting in another thread on this stuff, so I hope I'm not repeating myself here. Sorry, if I am. Sure appreciate all the replies here.
i've got about 2000 miles on a Fuelpak, Kuryakyn headers (V&H manufactured), Kuryakyn Crushers, and a Kuryakyn High Five air breather installed on an 08 Ultra. Got a good deal on it at Octoberfest, but unhappy with the performance. From my experience, the recommended Fuelpak settings on the V&H site resulted in an unsatisfactory ride for me due to the decel experienced when the Fuelpak cuts off fuel completely to the engine when you let go of the throttle. At times, it seems to chug/stall when the throttle is reapplied. Sent several emails to V&H customer service with no response to any of them. Was able to get some suggestions via phone which resulted in even worse performance. Follow on calls to them suggested that I am experiencing the best the unit can do. Spoke to Jamie about the problem along with several Harley dealers. All felt that a change to the PCIII would result in a much better ride. Unless V&H gets back to me with some other suggestions, my plan is to replace it as soon as possible after the holidays with the PCIII. Just my two cents.
I just installed the V&H Monster Ovals, Fuelpak, and SE air intake. I am very happy with the sound, but will have to put more miles on it to see about the performance.
I went with the S/E air cleaner,Fuelpak and V&H Basic slip-ons on my 07FLHT.
I e-mailed V&H for their recommended settings and they were V.helpful but my local dealers techie had already done the same.
Bike goes and sounds great.2000 miles so far,no problems.
Ride safe.
