Another good dealer experience......
I pulled my wheels off to get the tires changed. I checked the wheel bearings, and they were darn near locked up, on both wheels. I called San Jacinto HD in Pasadena, and asked if they had the bearings; Yes they did, $30+tax for each. I got to thinking, the bike is still under warrenty, so I was transfered to service. The service manager told me to bring the wheels in so she could look at them.
I took them in yesterday, they looked at them, and only asked four questions:
Vin #
When did I buy the bike
Where I bought the bike
My name
One hour later, I was gone, and a happy camper.
Thank You San Jacinto Harley Davidson.
Now back to the wheel bearings. I've seen a few threads from people who had a whine they could hear going down the road. Me too. I got it fixed now. Though I have had the back wheel off before, the front wheel has never been off. I had to use a cheater bar to break the axle nut loose. And in after thought, I had to do the same thing for the rear when I installed the IDS. That would cause bearing failure on these sealed bearings. Moral of the story? Break those axle nuts loose and re-torque them before you drive too far. Look in your shop manual for the proceedure.
