I wished I was a R U B as opposed to P U B, but it is what it is, and that's the way it is. I got nothin' against anyone that has it better than me. Envious? Sure... who isn't? Human nature I guess.
Biker? maybe... HOG, nope, that ain't me. I belong to em' but that's only for the insurance end of it, cause my wife sends it in every year. I can tell you I don't have 1 of their patches sewn on my leathers, and I have never been to 1 of their functions. I don't have nothin' against em' just don't feel I'm in that class. I don't feel they're better than me.
Probably motorcycle enthusiast is a better description of me if there is one.
I don't particulary ride with anyone, do my own thing when I want and how I want, and that's the way it is.
If it wasn't for the so called RUBS, there would be no Harley today. Back in the '80s, us shovel/pan/knuck/flatty riders did what we could to keep the company afloat, it was the "New" blood that invested with us and saved the company and turned it around to what it is today. Al
Excellent post. I agree if it werent for the "rich" guys buying new bikes every other year, HD would be gone. Seems to me that the people who actually use "Rub" are the old guys. Once they're gone, so will "Rub"...
Well lets see... i have been riding a Rigid chopper for about 35 years. finally paid off all the child support and bought a new Dresser... got a new house in the Burbs and a nice boat, the OL has a Mercedes.
After all these years I have FINALLY acheived RUB status (except for the rich part, and the URBAN part) Damm I guess I STILL don't qualify.
I think the whole "Anti-RUB, Anti-Poser" thing is a bit moronic. 20 years ago or so, "Real Bikers" weren't buying new bikes, and weren't spending much money at their Harley dealer (for many reasons - some of them to be blamed on the MOCO). As a result, Harley was almost gone. Today's real bikers can thank all those RUB's and Posers for supporting the company and helping it become a success. Without them, no one would likely be able to buy a new Harley in 2008.
The whole "Real Biker" vs. RUB vs. Poser is simply a matter of some insecure people wanting to believe only their motives for riding and owning a Harley are "genuine". Yet, they seem to be the people who pay the most attention to what other men are wearing and how they look. Maybe they just have an overabundance of female hormones?

I really don't care if ya are white, black, brown, male, female, rich ,or poor. I don't even care WHAT ya ride. But if ya are an A$$ Whole, I don't care too be around you! That's all .
