Merry Christmas, RUBs & PUBs, and the misfits in between.

Coul'nt agree more with MidnitEvil, once again I must add. Dude you have to stop reading my mind. I basically fall into the categorey of " F em" as long as they dont touch me or my property I wont have to mess them up.

As a result, Harley was almost gone. Today's real bikers can thank all those RUB's and Posers for supporting the company and helping it become a success. Without them, no one would likely be able to buy a new Harley in 2008.

The whole "Real Biker" vs. RUB vs. Poser is simply a matter of some insecure people wanting to believe only their motives for riding and owning a Harley are "genuine". Yet, they seem to be the people who pay the most attention to what other men are wearing and how they look. Maybe they just have an overabundance of female hormones?

Well said, It is always interesting to read the various responses to many of the threads. There seems to be people with open attitudes, some are objective and others who are just hateful irrespective of the topic. At least it gives people an opportunity to vent, say their peace or in many cases be informative. Wish everyone the best this holiday season.

Always figured a RUB was someone who felt they had to play the part. If'n you like to ride, just ride. If'n you want to take it up a notch, just do it. As long as you're real, you're going to get respect from those who matter.

"Perhaps the term RUB should only be used when the Harley owner is only interrested in the bike as a status symbol." Bingo! Recognizable as the ones who stake out an acre with caution tape at Sturgis so they have plenty of room for their fifth wheel's patio set, propane grill, and surround sound stereo blaring out Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild".

I'll be the first to say that I'm not what most consider to be a "Biker". I'll also be the first to say that I'm not a "RUB" by any definition. My brother and I rode with our parents on a 58 Sportster. I mean 4 people on a 58 Sportster, 40 mile round trips stuffed through my Mama's sweater sleeve and my brother in front of Pop on the tank. Bikes have always been there. I, like others, have always been a gear head. I consider my bike to be my "Adult Hotrod" because real hotrods are WAAAY out of my financial means. I've worked hard for it and I deserve it. But I know from experience that I've been labeled a "RUB" because of my bony frame and average lifestyle, and (the biggest reason), because I have a NEW scooter. It's just the way some people are so screw'um and RIDE HARD!
Hey jbob, keep your eye peeled at the hardware store. I can't use it and there's no way I can keep it. You know.......Thanks Bro.

I am considering getting a toy hauler so we can camp with my 7 yr old Neice and take the bike for a bit of riding. According to some on here, that would make me a RUB since I didn't ride to my destination. I guess I will leave the important things in life behind so everyone will think I,m a REAL biker. NOT. I am quite sure my priorities are in order and what people think or call me is not on my list. But this thread is kind of funny to read.

From the background scenes or the neighborhoods of the pictures shown on this site, many subscribers seem to live a pretty comfortable existence. If you have worked hard, live in an "upscale" community and accumulated some disposable income, does that classify an individual as a "RUB" because of their socioeconomic status? If you would rather hear the sound of true duals than the hum of a golf cart, does that put one in the "RUB" community? In my opinion, if a person is successful from an occupational perspective and enjoys motorcycles, they shouldn't be stereotyped because their achievement. What say you?
I can't believe you just wasted good forum space with this question...
