Well this could get very long. I found better service at an Indy and he is a far better tuner. I spent a bunch at HD going to stage one, and frankly it was not much better and not worth the money. We started talking 103 and by the time I got it to where I thought I'd be happy for at least a month it was about 2K... so I went to the Indy and he built a 107 for about a grand more... I guess if you ride someone's 103 for a bit and you like it... have at it. Good luck.

Alright Apostle,

I signed the dotted line just this past Friday for the 103 build on my 2008 Road King, but I feel that if one is to have this done then it should be done completely and without cutting corners. I am going with the 204 cam and high output heads and the new ceramic black Rinehart true dual exhaust. After all is complete, the HP will be 110 and TQ will be 114. Without the HO heads the HP would be more like 94 with TQ below 100. I am getting a 20% discount on most of the parts (except the heads) as well as a marginal discount on some of the labor for total of around $4,600. Take away the Heads ($1,000) and you're at $3,600. Take away the Rinehart's ($1,100 approx) and you're at $2,500. I'll list my estimate breakdown:

- Gasket Kit, TC cyl Head $35.99
- 3.875" cylinder kit $239.99
- 1690 piston kit, FT std $139.99
- Cam cover gasket $3.99
- SE 204 cam kit $239.99
- sprocket retention kit $4.79
- SE Pro Super Tuner $367.99
- Diaphram Spring $23.99
- Filter Kit $151.99
- Break in on Dyno $320.00
- Dyno-tune super tuner $160.00
- Blend throttle body to Head $720.00
- Lite clutch kit 87-06 B.T. $19.99

That should help you see the break down minus the exhaust and heads

Thanks, all. It seems like I may want to sit a while. I was thinking I'd knock this out while she's "naked" for paint. Guess I was wrong

Overdoo, I see where you're coming from. The problem is that you're looking at the Pro Racing catalog. If you look in the general catalog under the SE section, you'll find a bunch of upgrade kits that do not void your warranty. No crossed flags.

Your right I was looking at the pro Racing catalogue. My problem was the dealer was telling me the 103 kit was going to void the warranty like I said because of the crossed flags. This past weekend I dropped off my bike for the 10k service and really put it to them about this issue. It seems the only difference between the pro series 103 kit and the other is the addition of the SE air box and exhaust. All else is the same. We went round and round with this . I was about as close to a 103 kit as I had ever been. We even got to the point where they said they'd warranty it for me. I declined and went another route which I'l post on here after I have had the opportunity to see how it performs. Never the less glad we got this squared away.

Look for what it's worth, I did not buy an extended warranty, which makes a big difference in terms of what you do, but I was not concerned about the warranty; rather, I was concerned about the quality of the components and the new build. I would seriously check out a good local shop who does builds outside the MOCO parts. You will likely get great results and if the shop is good they will warranty their product with bullet proof parts. I had a recall on my 08 after the build and HD fixed it no problem, because it was not an engine issue. I'm in the process of rebuilding the crank and replacing the cams. The parts will be far more reliable than the originals and warranteed again by the Indy. In my opinion the Touring bikes are pretty much bullet proof except for a possible weird deal, like the filter on the 08's.... Enjoy your bike and the build. This is great stuff! LOT's of options... Ride Safe.

No not a single problem and it runs real strong. Strong enough that when the wife is with me and I twist the throttle hard open I get in trouble because it whips her head back, hehehe cracks me up!! I am still running the down load though, I have heard that on some custom tunes if they dont get the timing curve right and its too advanced at starting when the engine is hot it cranks real hard.

I did a 107 and kept the compression at 10; not I'm going to change the cams and go to 10.5, but will use electric compression releases and a high powered starter.
