I get rid of every torx i take out for stainless. The chrome ones will rust inside the cap over time. Lowes so far has had every one i needed.

Thanks for the tips. My torx are looking rough after 80K so I bought new ones at the dealer, or should I say stealer. Oh well, for $10 I'm good for another 80K. I came looking for the neverseize/loctite question and got my answer. Again, thanks folks.

And if you did, have you had any problems?

Thanks

Oh yea, bike is 08 Ultra
I don't torque those but snug them up by hand which has worked fine.

This is just my opinion but if you don't own a torque wrench you have no bizzness wrenching on a bike, again, just my opinion......I use one on just about everything, including those little quarter twenty screws holding on the derby cover......

If you can't work on a bike without a torque wrench, You have no business working on a bike. What did we ever do before everyone bought a shiny a torque wrench?

Fugged a lot of sh*t up. I know I did. And I'm a professional wrench of 30+ years. Unless you install those bolts every day, several times a day, I suggest you use a torque wrench.

Replaced all the stuff that fell off. Happened to me on my Sportster when I installed forward controls. Never again.

Very good advice. A good ft lb and inch lb and you're good to go. Smaller fasteners especially easy to over tighten.
