On my 08 Classic the shifter seems to stick down towards the floor board when I put it in first and will only return or snap back up very slowly like its sticking. There is no safety issue it only does it when you drop it into first and again it either comes up slowly or my boot pulls it up when I go to second gear I asked the dealer Service Manager as I thought there is no grease fitting there any more on the newer bikes. Anyone had this problem cant be because its cold out? I went out for a ride and it was in the low 30's? Any suggestions? thanks Bill

Thanks I may do like the Service Manager suggested pull out the shaft and grese it then put it back together Im not as mechanically inclined as you seem to be Id never chance tapping and drilling that although it does sound like a good idea after all the Motor Co had that grease fitting on prior year bikes, thanks Bill

Thanks Ill try that tomorrow morning when I get time thats also a good suggestion one to check out originally I removed the heel part of the shifter, and put on a chrome cover for the shaft, Ill let you know how it works out!! thanks Bill
I had that problem on my Road King. Found out the linkage was binding up back at the transmision. If greasing the shaft (I'd use white grease) doesn't cure the problem I'd check the linkage at the trans.
