Spoke to a Gerbinbgs Rep at the Novi bike show on Saturday, They are NOT going to stop making gloves. They are using a new technology so you don't feel the wires, by using a micro-wire.

As for the difference. I use Gloves on my Ultra, but the wife can't get gloves to fit her tiny hands, so I installed grip heaters. This allows you to switch grips to ANY grip you like, instead of only what HD wants to offer.

Yes, the gloves are warmer on the top of your hands. The grips do fine for the inside and fingers.

IF you do the gloves..DON'T go with the Vest. Use the jacket liner instead. I know too many (myself included) that bought the vest, and found they would have prefered the Jacket. Not for the heat in the arms, but to reduce the PITA that running wires down your sleeves to the gloves everytime you get ready to ride.

If you want the grip heaters, I went with http://www.motorcyclehotseat.com/ Thier grip heaters are only 55.00 versus over 200 for heated grips. They also do heated seats..I am thinking seriously about having mine done this winter so I can ride earlier and later in the year here in Mich.

>>Where did you hear Gerbings is not going to make gloves anymore?<<

I thought I saw the comment somewhere; maybe it's the classics in 3XL? Could've sworn... I know I've seen where socks will yeild to insoles? Shoot, I don't trust my brain in any of this.

Leaning toward the gloves. I do not need the jacket liner. Wiring. Meditation time . Tkx for all responses.

BTW, the Memphis HOG dinner last night was outstanding. My first and I'll tell you, I was so impressed how many vets came up to my wife and I to introduce themselves. Very unusual treatement to neubies in my experience. I wanted to recognize that chapter here. I'm also looking at Memphis CMA.

Tkx again!!

Actually, if you forget to disconnect the wiring going to the bike, it pops loose pretty easily to avoid this problem, and thank goodness for that. Ask me how I know.

I bought the heated gloves because it keeps the whole hand comfortable. Heated grips would only keep bottom of hand comfortable. Besides heated gloves are cheaper too.

Btw, lots of options besides Gerbing when it comes to heated gloves.

i rode the other day when it was 23 degrees outside. my hands were fine because i use the heated grips and the hippo hands. this is the 3rd time using hippo hands and i am getting use to them and they are working great for me. yesterday i rode and it was around 60 so within 60 seconds, i removed the hippo hands. some people do not like them as they look funning but i can not stand riding if my hands get cold. good luck. ted

Santa brought me some gerbings heated gloves for xmas, and I went for a new years day ride to try them out. Those gloves are awesome, temp was 39 outside and my hands were roasting! Really need an on/off switch or a temp controller. When I would stop an take off the gloves the back of my hands were beet red. They work almost too good!

Heated grips are always with you, your gloves might not be.
