I have had Rinehart TDs as well as V&H TD's with Basic Slip-ons, so I believe I can comment. The Rineharts sound better at idle and sound great when you gas 'em. The V&H are softer at idle, but a little louder when you gas it, and there is more difference in the throttle on/off situations, like slowing down/speeding up in twisties or maneuvering in traffic (pic of V&H basic slip-ons below...)
Some people love the Rineharts and would never have anything else. Also, with the black end caps, nothin else looks like 'em. The V&H are more classic, with a slant down cut. But they are thick with gleaming chrome and look great too. If I had a preference, it would be slightly (and I mean slightly) in V&H's favor. But maybe that's just because they're on my current ride...
Either way, they both sound great and you can't go wrong.
The dealer that I am buying my 09 SG told me that I should go with the V&H headers with the Rinehart slip-ons. they said V&H puts more r&d into there headers? I just loved the way the Rineharts sounded. But they also told me that Rineharts don't make TD's for the 09s yet?

This is the set up I have on my 08 FLHT. V&H T/D and Rinehart Eagle Beak mufflers. Looks great and sounds good too.
V&H headers & Rhinehart Eaglebeaks is what I have now.
An advantage of using the V&H headers is if you want to make an exhaust change later, all you have to do is switch slip-ons. I am still debating whether I am going to switch to Monster Ovals.
I had both as well. On the reinharts TD they are a stepped hedder which many people forget about. The V&H I had was with the oval. The V&H sounded nice at idle and through the speeds. What I didn't like is the position on the o2 sensors bung. I could not put on my wide band o2 sensors on the head pipes w/o hitting the top of the transmission cover. The Rineharts were better in the way the position of the 02 bung. Sound wise I was told by my riding buddies the Rineharts were louder but the V&H were deeper.

That is a big advantage to the V&H true duals, you can always just do slip-ons now and do the headers later. I just purchased a "Power Package" from Fuel Moto and I plan on adding the V&H headers down the road when I have some more money saved up.
OK one more time...........LOL.
I run the whole Rinehart TD system. Rhinehart can be googled for more info and to back up what I am going to say. Rinehart does not make exhaust ! Bub makes the Rinehart exhaust, they are designed by Mr. Rinehart. He is an engineer and specializes in exhaust, even for Nascar. Now as for the Rinehart TD system, they are a stepped header and there are three different baffles available for them. They come with the medium baffles installed, a quiet one is avaiable and a larger performance baffle is available. I would find it hard to believe that any other muffler would sound better than the Rineharts with the performance baffles, this is what I run, after much research.
