Many here have used the Infinity Kappas with good results. They are a 94db speaker and work very well on newer bikes. As good are also the JBL GTO 527's at a similar price.
I understand your concern but do you think that HD factory speakers are marine grade? Plus HIGH quality marine speakers cost a fortune.
True, they do cost a fortune but so did your bike. I think it's like putting ketchup on filet migeon. I did a quick google and found them from $30 to $150/pr.

I know i searched for while before i settled for these if you look at the specs on the speakers most marine speakers are 4 ohm or 3 ohm which will work but not sound as good as a set of 2 ohms. Plus when you go up to more expensive marine speakers they tend to be complete componet sets (speaker, remote tweeter, and large crossover). They are capable of high wattage and without a amp and the factory HK radio pushing them it would be like running a corvette with a with a honda civic motor.
Id love to put a kick *** new radio in my bike with a amp and marine componet speakers but i really just wanted a better speaker then the stock one since it sucks at 60 - 70 mph with out spending a fortune.
I tried Infinity Kappas as well. I also felt that they sounded great in the garage, but on the road, I was disappointed. I switched out to HogTunes, which I feel are better, but still by no means great. I think the only way to be happy will be to install and amp, but I have yet to allot $500 for an amp and speaker package. Sorry, just my .02, I hope your experience is better!
