From Florida:
Travel over to Natchez, Mississippi and ride the Natchez Trace Parkway up to Nashville, Tenn. and then scoot over and pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway and finish up on the Skyline Drive at Front Royal VA. Then you could grab I-95 and **** butt back south....ferget da train.

I have asked the same question. Do I load the bike in the crate or do they do it. They advised that they crate the bike but welcome my assistance. I will probably take my on straps just to be safe.
The train leaves at 4pm and they will serve supper, it will travel all night arriving at 9:30 am with breakfast. I will have 7 full days to get back to Tampa FL. I have been on the dragons tail once and plan to make another visit while in the area. Any other good areas that I should not miss?
Do they provide the crate ? About how much will it cost? I havn't rode a train since I was stationed in San Diego. I remember it as a good way to travel. Comfortable seats and a lot of leg room. Much better than flying.
Yes they furnish the crate. I'm thinking it is a steel cage.
For an additional $100.00 you can get a room where the seats fold down into a double bed. This is a private room for what i can understand.
My father retired from the rail road, so the train ride is part of the vacation.
Someone here posted video of them loading the bike
They let you help them if you want, but what I here is they go overboard grating your bike. Also someone said to get the roomliner, same room with fold out beds. Well worth the extra $$$$
I am planning a trip similar this this in June (Wifes a teacher and don't get out of school till then) but we live in TX so we are going to Niagara Falls Via the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, then back down to Front Royal to the Skyline Drive then on to the Blue Ride Parkway then back to TX Via Mississippi to see the Daughter. I can't wait,it should be a great vacation. Hopint to do it in 15 days.
We did NF, Skyline Dr, Luray, Hawks Nest, Blue Ridge Pky, Wheels Through Time, Tail of the Dragon (4,300 mi. - 18 day round trip back to austin). We felt totally rushed. My opinion is skip Niagara, it's overated. See America - Enjoy.
That will be a great ride. We love to head up to the parkway on a nice day.
Be sure and check out "Stations Inn" motorcycle resort mid way in North Carolina (above Wilkesboro on the map). It's a GREAT place to be on a Saturday or Sunday with 300+ bikes.
Here is another ride to check out that I thought of when I saw your home town. It comes right through Statesville where we are and we hope to hook up with them this year. They will also be putting the bikes on the train for the party trip back home.
