+2 for Chevron's Techron, about $ 6.47 for one can or somtimes Consumers Union rated their formula the best. Costco has them in a multi-pack. Like any high pressure injector (HPLC, LCMS, GC, etc.) a fuel injector nozzle can still function with deposits, but will perform optimally with no deposits and can benefit from cleaning. It sure as h*ll won't hurt, so I clean mine twice a year.

+1 Being a mechanic, I remember the fuel injection problems of the late 80's and early 90's. The gov't (EPA) passed a law (in '93) that all gasoline sold have detergerants in it to clean the fuel injectors. Also later model fuel injectors have a deposit resistant coating, and should not be cleaned, with other chemicals.
