Default Which Tour Pack??????????

I am about to buy a Tour Pack to put on my 08 RG and I would like some input. I am going to start with detachable hardware so I can switch back to the back rest. I see on the H-D site that the tour pack for my bike is part number 53325-08COR it says it is a solid color. But the one for the Street Glide PN 53270-08COR is a two tone color like my bike. Does anyone know if it makes a difference which one I use? Since I am using the same part number for my bike as would the SG for the quick detachable hardware,I don't see what difference it would make?
INPUT PLEASE

It doesnt matter. Ive got buds that bought older model EGC tour packs and put them on thier RK's years ago. The mounting is what matters.

I think you can get the king or chopped tour pak in most colors. There are several diffrent types. What matters is if you want lites and antenna on it or not. I put a ultra king TP on my roadie. Don't use the cb antenna or rear speaker pods but I like the rear brake and side lites on it. I installed it myself with the GF's help. Its a easy install. Get it you'll like it. I got mine at 20% off with free shipping from lakeshore Harley Davidson. Shipped in 2 weeks.

Seems as the PN 53270-08COR is for a 06-08 FLHX and is a paint match for your bike.
The next thing to do is find out if the tour pack mounting hardware is the same for both bikes.
If the docking kits are the same for both models , it should all fit.
Maybe dawg will chime in and give you an absolute answer on this project.
Maybe you should look at a few bikes at the dealer and see if the antennae holes are the same or maybe that's the difference for the Street Glide setup.
Wish I knew more.
Good luck and post pics when you're finished , it should look really nice.

The PN for the quick detach hardware is the same for both models, and I am only going to need one antennae and I will put speakers on it later down the road,so I can always drill my own holes later. I will probably re-drill the lounting holes anyway if my wife doesn't have enough room back there. I priced all of my stuff at Zanotti's and will actually save about $265.00

I ended up drilling another set of holes in the detachable mounting rack to move the tour-pack back another 1/2 inch. My wife complained that the rear mounting position on the stock rack sat her a bit too upright. I can't help on the paint coding, but the detachable rack is the same between the two bikes.

I know the quick detatch hardware will work for both, and after close examination of the actual tour packs I am pretty sure they will both work too. Plus the Street Glite tour pack is about $125.00 less than the one with the rear lights, also if I get it from Zanotti's the Street Glide model is about $50 cheaper than the RG model. To me that's a no brainer. RIGHT????

This particular box only has one mount for an antennae which is all I need, and I will drill my own speaker holes later down the road when I get ready for them.

The tour paks are the same as far as mounting. One is just Ultra style the other is Classic style. Both have advantages. I chose the Classic style for my Road Glide because the style seems to match better. If that is your bike in the photo, check with your dealer. I have the Anniversary Road Glide and I got a matching Anniv. Copper/Black tour pak. The one in the book may be solid copper pearl. Sometimes for anniversary and SE models if you want matching two tone paint colors the dealer has to do it through a different book and use different numbers not available at the counter or online. They want to know you actually have an anniversary or SE bike to order the color shop parts for them. The Motor company it trying to avoid people making clones of some models.
