Sounds like electrical, either contact of a connecter, or maybe on the trans door switch. If you feel ambitious, maybe look at the speedo connector and see if any of the pins or connectors are touching.

I had a similiar problem on my 07 rg especially when it was hot out. I would get the neutral light and sometimes the security light would flicker then stay on. I spoke with the dealers and they said there was an issue with the neutral switch. Even though it was under warranty the part was $18 I think and I just changed it and never had another issue.

Hmmmmmm....

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I know it's under warranty so let the shop check it out. It has only happened once that I can remember so if it keeps on happening I will take it in.
Your neutral switch is going bad...Good news, it is only $18 and it is easy to replace yourself.

I chose not to go under warranty at the time and leave it at the dealer. It was cheaper to buy it and do myself.

Typically, the switch failure happens with "high heat" conditions. If it is what I say, look at the part number of the new switch and you will notice it is under it's third or fourth revision.

I have not had it fail again in almost a year....knock on wood.

LOL And just how many of you have had to do that "evasive maneuver"? Just wait until you have a clutch cable let go when you are at a stop.

Thanks guys

I don't think I would say 45 degrees was exactly hot out but I have experienced sporadic neutral issues like up shifting into second and it going into neutral and it took a few try's to get her up into second. Plus I find it impossible sometimes to get her into neutral when stopped and have to shut her off then it going into neutral very easily. I have experienced the latter on most other bikes and chalk that up to the design of the gears and shifter dogs being loaded under RPM so I pay it no mind.

With the six speed I keep a mental note more or less

look down doin 3000 at 60 , I know I'm in four

look down doin 3000 at 67 , I know I'm in five

look down doin 3000 at 75 or so , I know I aint commuting to work and hope I'm on the interstate

18 miles of pretty much open road to werk and I rarely get outta fourth
