I had the same problem as you, severe pain between the shoulder blades and back. Wild 1's RK pullbacks and a driver's backrest... no more problem. Rode seven hours to Death Valley, could have done more. Problem solved. The bars have the notch for the new throttle control and there is no issue with cruise control, works great.
I talked to the Harley tech here and he said that they could not get any other bars something to do with the cruise control is that not so?
I would try a new seat first before changing the bars. I have beach bars and never made an adjustment. Changing the seat is the easiest fix. You will want to do that first anyway. Then play with the bars if you still need to.
Ok sounds like the seat first. Now how does one go about getting the right one its not like you can try befor you buy.The Mustang seat seems to be the one everybody likes .I looked at them on there web page seems that they have a few differant styles I need one for a 2008 FLHTC any sugestions Thank again for all of the great advice.
Generally speaking, the widest is usually the most comfortable. (Weight distrubution over a larger surface, something like that) I find the mustang seats to be a little stiff at first, but once they break in, you can go all day. I bought the touring 17" with the 14" passenger seat, wife loves it over the stock seat as well.
Thanks for the info .I contacted these guys I think this will do the job.Lookes like they do nice work And its a little cheeper than buying new. Thanks again
I have the HD Sundowner on my 07 Classic and this has to be one of the most comfortable seats I've ever had in my 40 plus years of riding...it fits me great. Had the Mustang and it sat too tall for me ( 28" inseam)....
I agree with Beemervet, it's not the seat that's causing the pain in your shoulders/neck it's the bars !! Not sure why your tech told you there were no bars for bikes with cruise control but he is full of crap !! I wouldn't let him work on my bike. There are several bars out there that will work. I switched to the Khrome Werks Sweepers +2 and love them. Further back and great wrist angle. The only this you will need besides the bars is a +3 or +4 clutch cable.
Hows everyone today.I called the folks at MeancityCycles Allen the owner was great to work with I am sending my seat in for them to work over.the price was great lots cheaper than new.I said yesterday that the bars could not be changed do to the cruise control I was wrong the dealer told me it was the ABS I will have to look into that.
