Cut some garden hose down the middle and cover those pretty engine guards then you should be fine.
I spent about an hour today with cones and chalk practicing the first few exercises (it was just a little too cool and windy for a highway ride today). The tips are amazing! I live in a high rise condo with a multi-level parking structure. The foot on the brake with throttle is a godsend in negotiating the ramps and tight turns on slope. BTW, I have a Sportster--this thread ought to be in the general section so others can benefit from it.
Another thing--I got the RLAP V DVD about a month ago. I commute about 25 miles each way a day. On a whim, I tried practicing in the car! The turn the head and lean was not necessarily intuitive to me as I learn to ride. So as I approached turns in the car (excuse me, the cage), I started deliberately looking ahead in the turn and keeping a constant pressure on the gas pedal. I normally just looked at the white line in the highway or the car right in front of me. What a difference! I track the curves much better and feel with the accelerating through the turn that I can go much faster and more in control through the turn. Not that I had any problems before, but the difference in the feeling of control through the turn is remarkable using the look, lean and throttle in the car as well.
Probably a "duh" to most of you, but it was a Eureka moment for me.
just to follow up. Drove to Florida to drop off parents car. I met up with jerry and Donna at their place since it was not to far from where i stayed. They just got back from doing a show in Alanta... they were great to talk to my nice to know also jerry has backround from Bari ,Italy while talking to my dad. I purchased the RLP ver V..
