Default Windshield bag for Road King

Got a windshield bag for Christmas. Was wondering if any of you are using and have had problems with studs and HD emblem digging/scratching up the finish on the shield. I know its not always gonna stay perfect, but seems like the bag is gonna dig and rub more than I would like.

Thanks for the input.
Jeff

I've got one like that Jeff on mine. I cut some black felt tape and put it between the bag and the windshield. That will also hold it in place better so it doesn't rattle. As far as Harley windshields IMO they are very easy to scratch. I finally ordered a clear Memphis Shade replacement shield and attached it to the OEM hardware. I like it a lot better than the Harley shield. Cost me around $80 if I remember right.

I have the same bag on my RK and love it. Works great and holds a decent amount of small stuff. The only place that rubs the windshield is the leather corners of the bag. Some people have put felt on the corners of the bag so the rubbing doesn't scratch the windshield, but I didn't bother. The only time you'd see the scratch from the rubbing is if you took the bag off and since I won't be taking it off, it's not an issue for me.

Used one for a while and the bottom of each side of the bag rubbed a little on the shield. Don't really notice it since it's below the cross brace, but it is there...

Mine has rubbed pretty good but I never noticed it until I read about it here and looked.

But I love it. I keep two pairs of glasses, ez tag for the toll roads, and I have my garage door opener it. I have left the bike in many places I probably shouldn't have and never had any one get in it.

Thanks for all the responses. Makes sense about not seeing dings/scratches unless removed. Guess I will go w/ it and not worry about it. Now could you just make it warm up a little so I can ride. 17 this am...ouch.

I have the same bag on my Low Rider and put some thin felt pads on the stud.

Holds a couple pairs of glasses and other assorted stuff.

I have that bag on my RKC and really like it, keeps things handy like the garage door opener. I put a couple of clear bump ons on the back side to keep the bag off the windshield. I git them at the hardware store for a buck or 2 in a pack of like 20, I used the others on the cabinets doors in the kitchen that were banging when closed.

Have the same bag and love it. Mine rattled when it was empty, you just need to put something in it to push it into its natural shape. I'm always amazed how much I can put in that bag. I will miss it when I get my SG.

Default winshield bags

I have a windshield bag, and yes, it scratches the windshield. I was looking through the new J&P CATALOG and there is a new "windshield bad bracket", part # 751-810, page 752. Looks like it would push the bag away from the windshield about 1/8th in or so.
