I built my own from a harbor freight frame and a sears car top carrier. It won't win any "pretty points" compared to the name brand ones, but for under $300 (including a diamond plate bed) my stuff gets safely to my destination just like it does in theirs. It all depends on how important the cosmetics are to you.
