Actually, I might just check into that one. Sounds like it would get some smiles down the road.
This thread raises a good question. Current m/c helmets are described by the manufacturers and the expert scribes in the business as being good for one very slight bump. Even an accidental drop from a small distance could end the usefulness of the helmet. Just the passage of a few years also is said to end the usefulness of the typical helmet. Then, how is it that helmets in the NFL survive massive and frequent hits for entire seasons, if not longer? Seems like the NFL would be tougher on helmets than just a single accidental dropping of a DOT approved helmet. It must have to do with the weight of the NFL helmet. I wonder, how much does an NFL helmet weigh?
if they do start selling NFL-DOT helmets, I am betting that there will be an immediate sales slump in the Detroit and Seattle market.

Plus, the more regulations they can force on us, the more riders will stop riding, less insurance claims against cage drivers running over motorcycles....all about the money.
Back in my bicycle racing days I cracked my share of bicycle helmets at 20-25 mph. Each time the helmet did the job it was supposed to. But I can't imagine it would protect you in a 70 mph crash. That's force of a whole different magnitude.
Along the same line, even given how vicious they look, I can't imagine NFL helmet hits would approach the force your head is exposed to in a motorcycle crash.
