I highly doubt they are DOT approved but I always thought that would be a great idea. Helmet Mfgrs should do shorty helmets or even full face with NFL Team Logos on them. probably not enough of a demand for each team to make it worth while though..

They make Construction "hard hats" with NFL team logos, so why not?

You guys will NOT believe this...

I don't know about NFL helmets being legal...
But...NHL helmets are!
Actually, the NHL helmet is better than most motorcycle helmets.

Buddy of mine rides with one.
Carries the specifics of the helmet in his wallet to show a cop, if needed.

I couldn't believe it..but it is!

Just buy a DOT sticker for a buck and stick it on. It's safer than a novelty helmet! And it would be funny.

If you get one, be sure to put some type
of bug screen on the face guard. Then you can
while riding.

Sometimes I wear my army issued MICH helmet. Its good enough for jumping out of planes(supposedly can stop a bullet) so I figure what the hell. PLus it makes my friends laugh at me so I get a kick out of it.

All kidding aside, if wearing any helmet, especially one that may not be DOT approved, be very careful that the chin strap is adjusted properly and the helmet will not roll back off the head. I had a brother-in-law who, sadly, was killed in a motorcycle accident many years ago in which his helmet wasn't adjusted properly and rolled off the back of his head. He was strangled by the chin strap while lying unconscious. Let's be careful out there.
