Yeah, there is a chance of SNOW FLURRIES here today (Hilton Head Island, SC). That is a rare occurrence.
I was going to ride today, but think I'll pass.
Should be back up to 60s/70s by the end of the week though.
OK, I changed my mind. I don't have to be at work until 7pm so I got my long-johns on and I'm going for a ride. Wouldn't want to be labeled a "poser" by a bunch of people on the internet I've never met before.
Also, this thread reminded me of the COLDEST I've ever been on a bike. March 1st, 1996: Riding through the Smoky Mountains from TN to SC. There were icicles hanging off of the rocks, and I think off of my face.
I'll ride down to about 35* then I have to pack it up. Too worried about ice to ride when it's colder. Tough to recover from oversteer when your on two wheels.
Two friends and I rode 65 miles to NYC for the IMS last Saturday morning at 7 AM. It was 8 degrees!
Yea, I was out there too on LI. Was alittle cold on the face with a half helmet and bandana. The rest of me was toasty though with my gerbing jacket liner & gloves, and some longjohns under my jeans.
Before we continue telling ourselves how hardcore we are, wifey was 2up with me and she didn't even have gerbings on, just chaps over her jeans with longjohns and a jacket. God I love that woman!
Mid twenties is about my limit even with the heated gear. Kind of takes the fun out of it when it takes 20 minutes to suit up and then feel like the fat Michelin man.
38 i think was the coldest for me on my 30 mile trip to work in the morning, and that was brutal. anything 45 and above i'll ride in. i dont have warm enough gear to ride anything colder.
