I rode to work last week at 12 degrees, only a 6 mile ride but felt like i could have easily rode 30 minutes or so before i would be ready to warm up. No heated gear other than the heat deamons.

28, dang. I am in Florida and rode to work this morning at 26 degrees. Supposed to be 19 tomorow morning, I will be riding.

I thought you boys up north were tougher than that!

Probably never do that again ...but i can say I did it

Now if it's under 45 it's uncomfortable....
now you got me goin! January 1977 Havelock (Havenot) NC, headed down HWY70 to see my squeeze in Morehead City late one night on my 76 Sporty (no windshields or face shields in those days) and in the teens. Well I got her cranked wide open (they always seem to run better when it's cold outside), sitting low, and peering between the speedo and tach, I came up on slower traffic. The second I started to slow down, there was blue lights flashing in the rear view. It was so cold the NC trooper wouldn't even get out of his car. I had to come back to him. He asks why I'm going so fast, so I tell him I off to see my squeeze and get warmed up. He says it seems to me the faster you go the colder it is. I say, true, except once your frozen, your frozen and the sooner you get there you can thaw out. So with a smile he writes me a ticket for excess of 110 in a 55. Wish I had kept that ticket, cause everybody knows a stock 1,000 Sporty ain't never seen 105, let alone 110. And yes upon appearing in court, the kindly NC judge required me to surrender my FL driver's liscence or else.

And then there was that time in 1979 in Beaufort SC when I rode in an ice storm just to say I could. got a couple miles and pulled (skied) into a dounut shop for a quick thaw and coffee. When I came out 20 minuttes later intending to get my silly Marine *** back to MCAS NBC, I crank her up and slip her in gear only to find the front wheel (rotor) is frozen solid with ice. climbed off kicked the front wheel until it broke loose and skied my way home to the barracks.

I'm a little more responsible now and just this morning decided I didn't really need to ride to work (28 degrees). yea I whimped out. But tomorrow it will be back up into the in the 30's and I will ride to work. The younger guys at work (and spouse) just donj't seem to under stand, it's about the ride, the challange, suffering the adversity, and feeling alive!! before we know it we will be too old to do stupid sh*t and call it fun............

Right now I can go down to about the high 20s. Next summer when everyone forgets about heated gear I'm going to buy a set of Gerbings. Next winter I should be able to bring that number down considerably.

Default Not to smart

Night before last the temp was 25 and I needed to run to the store so I go to the garage but she just refused to start. I guess she's a LOT smarter than I am.

them darn weather guessers, it was 28 when I rode to work this morning. I did have an ice crystal flash over problem on the face shiled for a couple miles but it cleared off. Actually the ride was pretty pleasant and I am dissapointed I wasted a good riding day on Wednesday. What a siisy!
