Default Amazed!

Thanks to HD forms I ended up finding a dealer who would actually deal and found a dealer to my surprise who ended up sending me a price by email and fax. I don't know about U but this is a hard thing to get!

My local dealer says they would match the the price but the smaller dealer that i want to buy from says they can't.

Now I know some of U may think I should buy from the dealer that gave me the great price to begin with, but my belief is, it is a free market and to each is his own.

What I am amazed about, is the fact that the small dealer that I want to buy from says that their market doesn't dictate that kind of price below MSRP!

That same dealer along with many dealers sill have 08's sitting on their floor.
What are they going to do when they still have 08"s on the the floor when the 10's hit the floor.

No disregard to the people that bought the anniversary color but that scheme isn't selling.

The dealer that denied my offer to match has 8 bikes that are leftovers on his floor and he his a small dealer. Thhe dealer that match"d has more 08"s than that.

Saw a tread lately saying should I wait for the 10's?

How can thier not be great deals come October 2009 on bikes?

I say if you have the deal that you want and are happy with the dealer get it. If you are guilty call the small dealer and just give the courtesy of a last look. The he ball is in his court no crime no foul.

If you lost your job today and went in asking him to make you the best deal to get out from under, what would he say.

Enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry, but I've been drinking some Crown, is there a question in there some where?

......and I feel you pain, I live about 10 minutes from a small dealer that I hang out at, so trading is always a pain in the a$$ (so to speak).

Heck, some of us believe you aren't ever going to buy a new Harley!

My thought is wait until the third year of the water-cooled ones, no matter how long it takes. They will be state-of-the-art, no use buying 100-year-old technology.

As for deals in October, the MoCo will continue to slash production to whatever level is needed to protect the market value of the brand. If that means allocating extremely small numbers of 2010s to support the prices of 2009s, you can bet they'll do so - they've already cut production on 2009s.

You've got a great price in hand and a dealer who will honor it. You posted on 9/28/08 that you'd been looking for a year already - in the 16 months you've been looking, you could have ridden 15,000 miles or more. OCTOBER???? Miss ANOTHER riding season???? As Grandma used to say, **** or get off the pot!

Actually, it's your penny. If you want to squeeze it for the next week, month, year or decade, that's your choice. Personally, I wouldn't miss the best part of the riding year to save even $2,000.....but that's me. The wife and I rode to lunch Monday - 300 miles round trip.....

It's a choice, nothing else - one dealer chooses to, another doesn't. The sale is a 2-way street - you can't make them accept an offer any more than they can make you buy at their price.
