Personally I think it is a waste of money.

I took my neighbor to the dealer to pick up his 2000 EG Classic because they had to replace the alernator stator because the grommet disintegrated and water was getting in. They replaced the unit and when checking out the bike, they found the voltage regulator bad and replaced it and they found the front air system leaking and they replaced it. He had 30 days left on his 4 year warranty and the total of all parts and labor was $1100 dollars. That sold me. His bike ran fine and if 30 more days had passed, he would be shelling out some bucks.

I paid $22k for my bike and I'm not going to complain about the extra bucks for the warranty. I'm covered for 5 years. I have it on my truck, my Jeep and the bike.

Good luck.

Anybody ever have an issue under factory/extended warrantee having a PCIII, SE AC, non-stock pipes on your scoot???

Heard lots of horror stories that the MOCO stealerships try to blame those simple mods for ANY "factory defect"??? Makes me wonder.

Went to the dealer last night to pick up the order sheet on my bike for the credit union. My salesman was doing the final paperwork on another sale. That guy was there with his wife and 2 kids. One of the other salesmen helped me out by printing up the ticket. Before he could print it though, he had to put in any additional figures, i.e. extended warantee. I always just say naa I'll pick it up later if I want it. Anyway, he asks my salesman who is sitting with another familty. He starts lecturing me on the importance of the extended. I wasn't gonna argue, just said I'd think about it and for now print it up without. How embarrasing, though. This lady is sitting there probably wanting to get the f out and he starts in on me. Ugh.

BTW, if you get the extended warantee later then it's $150 more. That's not a big deal to me.

My RK had 30 days to go on the extended warranty when my cam chain tensioners were found to be toast. I had to go direct to CNA but they covered it. (Lazy dealer) Two weeks later they covered a front wheel bearing at 52,500 miles. It's all in how you look at it. Why buy insurance if your never going to have a wreck?

I agree with Vern! I'm glad I had the xtended warranty on my '02 RKC, and used it enough to justify buying it. I had a good amount of work done at around 39k miles, including a new motormount, new fuel-injection pump, and a primary shaft seal leak. Of course I had to pay $50 deductible, but I had all the work done in two visits ($100 total.)

The xtended warranty is worth it only if you plan to ride a lot and put on a lot of miles. I love to ride, so I like the peace of mind when doing long road trips.

When my son buoght his Sportster in 2004 he was able to get financing at 2% less if he added the extended warranty.
This is against the law in NC, not sure about the rest of the country. You cannot charge a higher rate if someone elects not to purchase an extended warranty. Think about it, car dealers love to sell the warranty, yet do not push a rate hike if you do not purchase it. Lots of shady MC dealers out there. I agree, if the payment is the same, get it, but sounds like to me the finance guy inflated the rate to begin with. Give him a call and ask him about the rate or better yet, have your lawyer call him

You sure they didn't buy it down as an incentive? Just like on a home loan that gives a discount if you use impound accounts?

2% on a 20k loan for 5 years should cover the cost of the extended warranty. roughly $1200

Most banks in NC or should I say "A" credit lenders, require escrow of taxes and insurance and offer no rate reduction. Some Credit Unions will allow customers to pay their own taxes, insurance and PMI, but very few do these days, due to foreclosure rates in the poorer parts of NC. In NC the tax man is first when it comes to foreclosure, he's gonna get paid those property taxes, before the bank gets their money back, lenders are not willing to risk Billy Bob falling behind on property taxes, so the bank is nice enough to collect them monthly[:@]

New to the forum, but here's my 2 cents. With my '97 it would of been a waste of money, 97,000 miles and no major problems. That being said, my '03 (39,400 miles) I've used it a number of times (Stator / multiple electrical problems / and it's in the shop right now, injection system). So back to the point, I'm glad I have it on my '03.
