If the extended warranty woth buying in anyone's opinion? I have a year left on my warranty and I will have around 40,000 miles on my bike in a year from now when the warranty expires.

I have never opted for an extended warranty on ANYTHING I have ever purchased. Happy to say, that to date, I have never had the need for one!

IMO I consider the bike itselfand the dealer in your area. If you have had no problems to date, the extended warranty may not justify the cost. Also, are you comforatable with your dealer in your area. For example, some dealers have been great about the TC cam failure problems, others were
not and that would have a major impact on if a warranty is worth it or not IMO.

I never buy an extended warranty on anything. So far that has worked out okay….just can’t say whether it’s good luck or good decisions……

I bought an extended warranty in 2003 for a new bike. 4 years at about $900.00. To date I have replaced a $65.00 part plus labor using the warranty. You still have to pay $50.00 to use the warranty. If you have a lemon it will probably show up within the manufacturer's warranty period. 1st and last extended warranty for me.

Well, I didn't used to buy an extended warrenty on anything. I bought a ViewSonic 19" monitor a while back and didn't buy and extended warrenty. Just after the 90 days it wink <BLINK, POOF>! Best Buy wouldn't take it back (over the 90 days) but would have if I bought their extended warrenty.
I had to contact ViewSonic and have it replaced through them. That took a while (a couple of weeks) and I had to ship the big azz monitor to them for replacement. (And listen to my wife talk about extended warrenties)
So, when I bought the bike, I didn't even look at my wife, who I was sure eyeing me like mad, when the dealer asked about the extended warrenty. Yes, please add it on the loan. Wife is happy and if she is happy, I'm happy.

NO, I think that it is a waste of money. It's all a big gamble with the odds against you. It might be worth it if you put a lot of miles on your bike, and wanted piece of mind.

When my son buoght his Sportster in 2004 he was able to get financing at 2% less if he added the extended warranty. I don't know if this was something offered by the MOCO or the dealer. We had the dealer figure the total cost of the loan both ways and by getting the lower rate he was able to add the additional 5 years on the warranty for less than $100. I told him to go for it. First time I ever saw where buying the additional warranty made sense. So I don't agree that you just say you should never buy it, you need to look over all the details of the deal.

My dad used to sell appliances for Sears and he used to hate to have to try to sell an additional warranty on a Kenmore washer but it was a part of his job. Everybody knows how long those things last.

Extended warranties are nothing but a dealer or MOCO profit item or in the case of stores selling extended warranties on items, are also nothing but a profit item for them. I have known a couple of people who had them on their cars and it worked out OK but almost always it is nothing but more profit for the dealer or store, and they are always negotiable if you really want one, just like their prepaid service. When I bought my bike 2 1/2 months ago they kept reducing the price on all the extra warranties they were offering me and couldn't believe I didn't want them after lowering the price on everything. Remember you can buy the extended warranty up until the date your 2 year warranty runs out. It may cost a little more but you don't have to be pressured into it which is what they try to do on the day of the sale. It's just like buying a car. They try to screw you when they get you in front of the finance person. All you have to do is keep saying NO and don't buy into their line of B.S. If you read Consumer Reports they always tell you to avoid extended warranties.
