Don't be conservative. You will only end up doing again.
A mild cam eg. 203 and 95" kit will only keep you happy for a year or 2.
Not necessarily.... The 95" with the 203 is a great setup. It's great on long trips but gives plenty of grunt for bar hopping. My 02 EG Classic had this setup. I'm riding a 103 now, Dynoed at 106hp and it's got great power but it will beat you to death & make you go deaf on an all day ride.
It all depends on what you want to do with it. If you need to impress your buddies with burn outs, wheelies & Dyno sheets go big... If you want a comfortable ride with plenty of power, the HD big bore & 203, or possibly the S&S 510 Gear drive cam will take care of all your needs, and be less likely to void warranty issues.

I agree. I've had my 95 ci motor for almost 6 years and it is sweet. It has been very dependable and has the boost you are looking for. It is true that some people always want a little more but if that's the case you might as well by a Jim's 120 motor out of the back of the Screamin' Eagle Catalog and get it over with.
Well for whats it's worth my opinion is if I were doing a bike for lots of snap and fuel friendly....I would start with the 3:34 gear ratio in the primary [also adding automatic chain tensioner while apart] and next I would go with the Andrews 26G cam. This cam will work well with Big Bore later when you decide to do that,[we all know it's an addiction and YOU will be doing that too, lol]. Doing this will make the bike more dependable by getting rid of cam tensioners and give you more power at a reasonable price. The cam is good for 2 up and great for bar hopping.
