Honestly, if i were you I'd try and get the machine shop to fix it or replace the heads.

That's a non-issue. If you look at the gaskets pictured in the links you posted, you will notice that the inner most portion of the sealing surface is in a circular shape. The combustion chamber of the stock TC head is more of a bathtub shape.

The location of his vent holes is far in-board from the gasket mating surface.

Don't sweat it...

While they are different than we are accustomed to seeing, they'll be OK.

The hardest part i found, was getting used to pushing them down every time i started my bike. I mean before you just started your bike, now you have to make sure you use your releases. It does eventually becomes a habit, just some thing to think about.

The location of these holes is not an issue! They are in the squish area of the combustion chamber, well within the bore of the cylinder and nowhere near the gasket.

My S&S 107 has automatic decompressors, which operate with the starter button. They work as if by magic! Can you fit automatic ones instead of manual ones?

Whoever drilled and tapped the hole for the release did not correctly predict the angle for which the chamber hole would be placed and simply drilled his hole straight throgh the top of the upper fin, which is basically straight up and down, thus positioning the location of the hole in the squish area of the head. The machinist should have counter bored an angle into the top fin which would place the hole off to the side of the spark plug. As for future problems with the current placement, the only thing that comes to mind is The heat generated in the squish band sitting so close to the gasket surface which may eventually burn through the head gasket and cause leakage. I have never seen a compression release placed in that location so really I am not the ultimate authority. Good luck. KEVIN
