I used to buy from gps4fun.com (good service and prices) then found GPSCity.com. +1 on GPSCity.com
I've bought from all 3 that I 'source'...with no issues.
When I am ready to buy the Zumo 660, I'll check out each of them and buy from whichever one is going to give the best deal.
At this point, I mainly use my GPSMAP 76CS for route mapping, elevation mapping and if necessary, fuel stop location...so the 660 will probably be next Winter, after the initial hullabaloo has subsided and prices are somewhat back to normal.
I like just using maps most of the time, but l borrowed my son's 550 last year in the Mountains of NC. I got it all set up and decided to use it one day on the trip when the clouds were hanging thick with a light rain and man did I get impressed. I was riding along when it said to turn left in a hundred feet or whatever it was (it didnt' say the name of the road or anthing). I turned and found myself on this narrow little hard-pack dirt road going through this valley, little homes here & there along the path--real Appalacian home slice stuff--and finally came out onto the road I was originally aiming at. I later discovered that by leading me through this off-the-maps little dirt path it had saved me some 20 miles of travel to get to the spot I was at. That was damn impressive. I'm still using maps though but one of these days...
Once you get your GPS cherry popped, you'll never use a paper map on the road again. It is amazing how many side roads you end up on while looking for your intended route. Most recently while looking for the Blue Ridege Pkwy after stopping in Asheville, the gps took me thru this area with lots of homes...left, right, left again. I'm looking back at the group shrugging my shoulders. I decide to go with it. Well, it puts us on Town Mountain Road! HOLY COW what an awesome road!
The GPS may/will take you a different way than you intended sometimes, but it never fails to get you there. Just remember to select "UNPAVED ROADS" in the "Avoidance" options
Dammit!
I've always been reluctant to move forward with new technology.
Last guy on my street to get a computer.
Last guy to get a digi cam.
Last guy to get an IPOD.
On and on and on....
I've been reluctant to buy a GPS but damn if you guys aint making it hard.
