Deer make me NOT ride at night during deer season. There are MORE deer in Ohio than at ANY time in the past. I hit a deer with my old Lightning... I HATE damn deer!!!!!
Agree 100%. They're dumb as a box of rocks, quick, and very unpredictable. I have to wade through herds of 'em just getting out of my neighborhood.
Between my wife and I, we've hit a total of 3 so far, over the years. I hit and killed one on a Triumph Trident I owned in the 70s. Didn't drop the bike.
I don't ride at night around here at all anymore - not worth the risk.
Some of the things I've avoided here include: Wild Turkey, BigHorn Sheep, Deer, Bear, Moose, Elk, Dogs, and one crazy horse. I've had to stop, swerve, speed up or some of all the above to avoid encounters with each one of the above listed critters. Oh, and a crazy pheasant that seemed attracted to the colors of my bike.... Other than that, drivers of all kind! Ride safe out there.....
Yep, dodged more than 1 wild turkey when I lived in the hills of SW Iowa. Never heard of anyone hitting/being hit by one but the aftermath would not be pretty either way...
In the Mass,NH area where I ride we've had a couple of realy bad ice storms this year causing severe tree damage.Just yesterday my wife wacked me while swerving in her car.I quickly pointed out what I was dodging.A broken limb hanging by bark some 30 feet overhead. This will be a scarey riding season in the north east.
Had a red bird hit me at 70. Was wearing a half helmet and the helmet took half the hit. The other half in the right cheek.
Oh and some big a$$ potholes in southwest Colorado just before crossing over to Utah.
TO AtkRWC The bear just rolled over and over, got up and went the same way he came from. After we got up and got the bike up and collected ourselves we noticed when I hit him he must of had a mouth full of berries.
