its winter here, and im bored.. would the Saddle Gaurd kits look good on a SG ? I want to protect my saddle bags in case bike tips and also stop the leg rubbing of the passanger against the bags to prevent wear of the paint...
Any suggestions ? its pretty pricey here in Canada for the kit..
The guards with rails will not fit your Street Glide because of the saddlebag filler panels in your Street Glide's rear fender facia (the plastic U-shaped fender attachment that also includes the LED light. You could drill holes in the filler panel to make this work (Hog Yild did this).

I put on just the standard chrome rear crash gaurd to protect them if I lay the bike down. It looks good I think. I would not do the wrap around gaurds -not right on a street glide.
I took the lower (horizontal) wrap around rails off my Ultra to clean up the look. Left the vertical bag rails as I "know" they will protect the bags in a a tip over (guess why I know). Anyway I really don't think the wrap arounds will do much in a fall - they move pretty easy.
They are always available on ebay .
Damn HD, you can buy the complete kit with the original size crash bars a lot cheaper then buying the low profile bars and the assorted pieces you need to install them on a SG.
I'm looking for just the black inner supports at a decent price but they have to fit an '09 SG.
Then I will buy the low profile bars and have them powder coated black to blend in to the Black Pearl.
