Does anyone ride solo with a King Tour pack with speakers pods? if so, How comfortable is it? I saw a member here with a Rode Glide with a King pack, chopped TP backrest with speaker pods. (Couldnt find him again to ask this question).... Thanks
I have a 2006 Road Glide with a Mustang solo seat and backrest. My tour pack is a king with the back rest and speaker pods. I did find that I could not hear anything from the speakers as they are pretty well covered up. I removed the speakers and lined the pods with speaker carpet and added hinges to the speaker grills, now have extra storage for sun glasses and what not. I modded my lower fairings and added 5 x7 blaupunkt speakers with Alpine components in the fairing driven by a 500 watt amp.
Anyway I really do like the comfort this set up has. I call it my road sofa. If you go with a solo set up be sure your seat has a back support as the one on the tour pack will be too high but coupled up with the seat back rest it is quite comfortable.
I switch between the TP solo and 2 up with the speaker pods. Can't hear much from the rear speakers plus I'd like the room for easy off & on. My mustang solo seat with BR fits and looks good with the king TP.
