I have an '07 EG and was wondering if mufflers from an '05 would work. I am concerned about the difference in engine displacement. The original owner had the mufflers bored out and they are just about straight through and a little too loud for me.
Yes they will work, I did the opposite, I went from stock 05 mufflers to 08 mufflers with no fit trouble. I believe the 07-08 mufflers flow slightley better, they have entirley different internals than my stock 05s so you may loose a little bit of throttle responce going from 07 to 05s. I'm not entirley sure but something to thick about.
gstep, no go on those mufflers. they will bolt on but now messing with an engine with o2 sensors on it. low restrict mufflers will cause a lean condition and o2'z will msg ecm to richen. now you are mistuned. local dealer has done extensive dyno time on the 07 twin cam. they only reccomend rush mufflers with 1.75" baffles on there dyno runs they allowed an increase in power/torque without upsetting efi. i am currently removing my 2.25" kerkers off my 07 e/glide and installing the rush 1.75. any larger baffle mufflers too lean on the o2 motors, then hav to go with tuner, stage one and some dyno time. you have to do one or the other. i ran my kerkers last summer and fuel economy was 4 mpg less then stock mufflers and engine heat and slow speeds was very hot. will run my 1.75 mufflers for a while then have a pair on nightrider ied's i will install later to track mpg and performance and any lowering of engine heat condition
leon, ok to put less restrictive 07 mufflers on previous model years, but not the other way around. if you just do the mufflers, nothing else must be done. if you add stage 1 to your 06, should get factory download or a tuner. remember 07 and newer mufflers are designed for o2 sensor motors. 06 models and older no o2 sensors.
dont reccomend previous model mufflers on an 07 or newer, they hav o2 sensors. several resources state 1.75" baffled aftermarket is the largest you shud go or larger or less restrictive mufflers will cause ecm tune problems if all else is left stock. i install a set of 2.25 kerkers i took off my 05 rk and put them on my 07 e/glide. engine surges and mpg drpd 4 mpg and engine ran extremely hot. i installed syn oil, 1.75" rush and nightrider ied's. now runs much cooler and feels like it should. if you go any additional upgrades you will have to go with tuner, poss dyno time and stage 1 a/c upgrade
O2 Sensor is in the Header Pipes - So the mufflers will work just fine - You won't be seeing much of a increase in performance...- Do yourself a favor and complete the Stage 1 and you'll see a big difference then...
