I am needing/wanting an intercom system to use on the RG and possibly on the the dyna. I'm going to be riding with my kids some this season and would like something where we can communicate while on the road. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the J and M handlebar mounted audio system. We will be riding with mostly full faced helmets(personal choice) and really need the intercom more than the cb but it would be nice to have in the future. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
I put one on the wife's bike, worked GREAT....installed a factory CB on my EGC and wish I had went with the J&M again on it...J&M is much better than the HD factory unit.....
She also used a IPod with it and that also worked great....expensive but worth it....
yeah if I only needed the cb then that would be an easier solution but it sounds like the j and m is pretty much the standard that everything else is measured up against.
J&M's are great units. I put one on my wifes Softail 3 years ago so we could talk while we ride. It has worked flawlessly. You can also connect an MP3 player thru it and into your headsets. The CB or intercome will over-ride the player, but then go right back to it, same as my Ultra does.
Instal took me about 1 hour with no idea what I was doing. Thier instructions were great..
i've tried chatterbox and some of the others. I have a GW and an UC. the J&M headsets are by far the better. less noise, and when you play music it's much, much clearer without static in the background.
If you just want intercom, and MP3 use... you can look into Autocom, http://www.topgearaccess.com/autocom/
and a few others... but for CB's I love my J&M. I have about a dozen friends who have them, and this is the second bike with it. J&M has been wonderful to work with over the years, when any one i know had any problem

Thanks for the info. I checked on j and m's website and there is a stocking dealer within 180 miles of here. I emailed them asking what parts I would need to do what I am wanting. I am thinking that I may just roadtrip up there to make sure I get everything I need.
well I have spent the last 1.5 hours on the phone with a J and M reseller and J and M. I can't get a straight answer of what I will need antenna wise to make it work correctly. I'm not gonna spend close to $1k for something that I don't know will work. I may just wait another year and trade for an ultra and put that $1k towards an ultra.
