over - under sizing gears

over - under sizing gears
I asked a local indy for a price for installing gear drive cams in my 01 Ultra. He said 1100 -1200 depending on wether or on he had to over or undersize my gears for the runout. Has anyone heard of this, good or bad?

If the gears are too tight, you would need an undersize....too loose, an oversize. If your runout is .003 or less you can go with gears and .003 is on the high end. Ideally .002 or less.
