I can get them locally from a buddy in the cycle parts business for $320 and he can even get me the Chromite cables for $245. How much longer do the throttle, idle, and brake cables need to be? Also, for those that have these bars, does it suck that your hands are in the wind now? I am definately going with these and I know the look and comfort will be sweet but what are the downsides?
I have the PYO Monkeybars for my 07 Ultra. My wife got them for my birthday; she dealt with the guys at PYO and said they had nothing but great customer service. I would use them again. I also got the extension kit as well so I know everything will fit.
BadPiggy- I thought I saw that you were going with Monkey Bars?
2-3 weeks wait.
A 12" Monkey Bar is a standard selling bar for PYO.
You'd think they would keep a couple of their standard sizes on the shelf, ready to ship.
I contacted them about my height, they tell me to try a 10" bar and it's special order.
Well, if they're making any bars when you call in, wouldn't that make all of them special order?
I'd love to have the Monkey bars, but damn a bunch of waiting.
I one have about 500 miles on my bars but they feel great. +1 on not buying wires and the 6+ on the cables. All you need to do is relo the plug ends under the fairing for the wires.
So you CAN use factory wires and run them internally with the new wires. My parts guy told me that if I am 6" longer on the clutch then I will need to be 8" longer on the throttle/idle?
BadPiggy- Custom Chrome is stocking those bars also.
I ordered mine direct from PYO. Nice quality but for 375 I expect that. I was disappointed that they charged me 47 for UPS ground shipping and that was not told to me, just charged and included a bill in the package. Could not have cost even 20 buck to ship. I guess I would have bought them even if they were 400 with 20 to ship but sneaking in high shipping cost and not disclosing it to the customer is not good business.
I agree they should have told you the price does not include shipping but the high shipping is due to the size of the box. I think my shipping was in the $35 range but knowing how they(UPS/FedEx) determine shipping charges that is about right. It is all determined by the size of the box and it takes a good sized box to get the bars in and plus its was a little oversized so that added more cost to the shipping.
