I don't quite understand your question. The recharge kit is nothing more than a spray-on cleaning agent that you let the filter absorb and after it's sat in the cleaning agent for about five minutes you wash the "soap" out and let the filter dry. After the filter's dry you re-apply the pinkish oil, and that's it.
I'm sorry let me rephrase the question. The K&N recharge kit has a cleaning spray, As I read the instructions I see it talks about paper filters. when I used it on my heavy breather. the oil spray was'nt as red as the original breather color. Did I not get my filter clean enough? Stumped about the cleaner.
I can't speak as to if you've got the wrong products or not, but this is what I got from the dealer. My oil is the exact same color as the oil that came on it originally. And on the directions it doesn't say anything about "paper" filters, it just states to spray the product (cleaning agent) on the "filter media". So I'm guessing what you've got is different than what I've got, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong or that it won't work. I'm guessing that most soapy solutions and light film of oil would work.
I'm very happy with my heavy breather. I've also heard that it doesn't really help the power. I noticed more of an increase while at speed in 4th, 5th and 6th gear. I imagine there's a ram effect with the filter aimed at the breeze. Power testing in a dyno cell can't really duplicate that. I noticed the bike pinged a touch more after the install with the extra air it was running a touch lean. That was before the PCV with autotune was installed. It really is a first class piece for fit, finish and operation. I've got 10k miles on mine.
