This is my version of the heim joint conversion. It uses McMaster Carr heim joints, stainless steel button head fasteners, a spacer to eliminate misalignment, a nylock bolt on the back side to secure and the original shift rod and jam nut. I managed a machine shop and had one of our guys make several different lengths of spacers. I am certain that a well stocked hardware store would have something very similar in varying lengths that would serve the purpose. Google “small bolt spacer” to see what is available on the internet.
If you go this route or something similar check for clearance at the back of the stack up, especially at the front joint. Mine clears the cylinder fins by about 3/16” so cycle it through and adjust the bolt length as needed.
A friend had one of her original joints fail while riding with a group. Someone was able to zip tie and tape it together enough to get her back home so be aware the originals do occasionally fail. She is an aggressive rider but not a shifter stomper.

If you have clearance issues...
You can also use a chrome hex head bolt, put the head towards the cylinder, and then put a capped nut on the bolt, facing outboard..
