Well, got my Motherwell's MWL-75 luggage rack today and got it installed. Unfortunately, it just won't clear that big honkin' tool bag. It doesn't just rest on it, it crushes it. You can see from the pics that I had it moved back about as far as it could reasonably go.
So, back to square one. I'm not going to put the bag back on the rear fender because honestly, I didn't really like it. Guess I'm resigned to carrying my tools in the saddlebag. Blah.
You could also attach it to the back of sissy bar. If it reaches to the fender, cover the fender with wide PVC tape. Alternately, rather than go through all this trouble, just put the tool bag into a saddlebag. I understand that you may not want to do that, but it really doesn't take up much space...problem solved.
