Cool Laced Wheels

I was wondering what kind of care is needed for laced wheels and is there anything I can do to fix a flat on the rode? Always had cast before and could plug to ride for repair!

You can carry a can of Fix A Flat. It's saved me more than once.

Do I have to replace the tube when I get it fixed or just patch that one?

As far as care.....a lot of patience in cleaning. I had spokes on my last bike and swore never again, to much cleaning and fixing a flat issue. I used shoe laces then to get between the spokes, but I am sure there are better items than that.

I had them on my Road King, got rid of those POS wheels. I hate spokes. For roadside flats, Slime makes a nice product, consists of the slime and a 12volt pump that will fix you right up. be careful, there are two types of slime/fix a flat. one is for tube, the other is for cast wheels. Cleaning is another pain that I hated, I used chrome polish, forget the name right now, looks like dirty cotton, you just pull off a small piece and rub the rim, use as much as needed. When you buff it off, WOW. looks fantastic, i also heated up some mothers and soaked some shoestrings in itt to do the spokes, worked great and looked even better. All this cleaning only took about 3 to 4 hours. I'd rather ride so I got rid of them.

Default Laced wheels

If you like the look of laced wheels one thing you can do to save you some headaches is have them re-laced with polished stainless steel spokes. They wash of easy and stay looking good unlike the stock spokes which I believe are nickel plated and will grey out after awhile and will never really clean up. I had my Wide Glide done and they always looked good. Chrome is even nicer but the spoke wrench will invariably break the integrity of the chrome and cause a rust spot similar to what you get with chrome allen head screws.
Mine cost me about $ 200. at the time I did it.
