I have a 08 RKC and use a Tom Tom 1 with a ram mount. The same unit I use in the cars. When on the bike and it is raining I put Glad zipper bag on it. Love it.

Zumo 450...Suck it up and get a good one...you'll be cursing yourself if you get lost or need to find gas,eats,stores....

Something everyone regrets sooner or later. I should have bought the better one

Of course Ebay is a good source and will give you an idea of what is worth what

First of all, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good unit. I got a NUVI 350 and it does everything I need. I use the suction cup mount and put it on the gas tank, no problem with it coming loose on an all day trip. Just make sure you get one that announces the road names and any other features that you want such as MP3 player. The 350 can be plugged into aux connector on radio, all of the units do not have this feature. Just decide what you need and get the one that fits your needs.

I have a Garmin ZUMO 550. You can find good deals on Garmin's both new and reconditioned. I bought a reconditioned Garmin StreetPilot 550 for my wife at buy.com and it looks and works like new.

I'd recommend the ZUMO for bikes though. The 550 comes with both mounts car and bike.

I would not ever use a suction cup mount on a bike though. You won't have it long.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 200 from Wally World on Black Friday for $97. Bought it mostly for our family trip to FL in April but I am thinking about trying it out on the bike. I already have a RAM mount that I used to use for my XM. All I need to get is the correct mounting attachment for the Garmin.

Hey Man,
Started with Garmin 2610, then 2730 and now Zumo 550, all 3 have been in major rain with no glad bags and are road tested waterproof, I think you get what ya pay for, the 2610 on a ram mount is as good as just gettin there and back goes, but I load 1000 mp3' and sync my cell up to the Zumo, with the Kennady harness from cyclegadgets can even modulate the cell phone from the saddle, all thru the AUX port on the dash, WHY you ask...Because I can!
Ride Safe!

I have a Garmin Quest. Its basically the same unit that Harley used to sell. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the newer units have and you have to load the maps from the included CD. It will only hold detailed map info for about 3 states but ecost.com has the recertified unit for $75 http://www.ecost.com/Detail.aspx?edp...avid=155441519 . I have used the suction cup mount on my Roadking windsheild with limited success. I bought a ram mount from ebay for abut $35.

IN short it does everything I need to do and for the price you can't beat it.

I've got the Zumo 450 it's no better or worse then any of them. Find one you like that you can get a deal on and pick it up. My guess is I wasted a few hundred extra bucks by getting the Zumo over any other model but it works fine. No better then the Nuvi I used to use in my truck.

If you just want basic GPS function in a unit made for motorcycles, a refurbished Garmin 2610 or 2720 will do just as good a job as the Zumo series for about $100 or so. Don't mess with the suction cup - it'll fall off at the wrong time. Get a Ram Mount for the handlebars and the hardwire kit and you will have a great set-up that will last you for years or, until you want to spring for a Zumo.
