A SG comes with lowered and reduced travel 12" shocks. To keep the same "Look" as a stock SG you would have to replace it with the same size. If you wish to raise your bike for added ground clearance you could go with any size larger than 12" Of course if you choose a 13" shock (eye to eye) did it on the SG you would have to remove the 1" lowering spacer that comes with & is inside of the stock front end to set the same level attitude. An easy job but work none the less.

The rest is your choice. I was with a person who had a 35" inseam last night and a stock bike is too low for them. Also remember you do not need so thick of a seat with proper suspension as there is less need for padding.

Hey Iclick, sorry to drag up an old post.... but how did you like this set up of 13" shocks and a 1" lowering kit?

I am thinking of doing the same to my SG with the 1" eglidegoodies kit. Does the lowering kit affect the function or travel of the shocks?

Thanks for any advice you are able to give.

AFAIK the stock front end on the SG is the same height/length as the rest of the touring family? What is this lowering spacer you mentioned?

Yes, I was also under the belief that the front end on the Street Glide is the same as all the other FL bikes.

With rear shocks it seems to me we have to chose between looks and comfort. Short shocks mostly have short wheel travel compared with the stock length of 13" for the Ultras etc. If the front forks on your bike are the same length as Ultras I suggest you fit the longer shocks. I just received my Ohlins from Howard of Motorcycle Metal (HDF sponsor)!

Geez guy!! What are you? His cheerleader or something?

You haven't even put the shocks on so how can you have any opinion of them.

I was screwed by the sponsor on this forum who sells Ohlins shocks. First they came to all screwed up then I had to pay for shipping to get them back to the guy who screwed it up. After setting up the shocks on someone elses bike and saying I lied to him with my sag numbers he proceeds to build the shocks ultra soft. That is not what I wanted at all but he did it anyway. Then he had the gall to send me a bill for shipping that crap back to me.

Tell you what. I have $600 wrapped up in this junk. Howabout you buy them from me for $540 and we can both go away happy.

And before you ask, you cannot get your money back even though it's a **** product.

Much better off going with Ricor or Progressives. Better product. Better customer service.

You seem to have an axe to grind! I don't yet, nor do most of his customers on HDF. Best of luck getting them sorted out.
