Default What size apes?

Really debating getting apes on my 05 FLHT. Never have even ridden a bike with apes. Was gonna wait and get a dyna or something in addtion to the bagger and put em on, but it doesn't look like that'll happen anytime soon, the wife's pregnant with our first kid, and I don't know if I'll be able to. So my question is, at 5'8, what size? I reaaly like to ride long distance. 900 + mile trips etc. Can I , should I go with apes and at what size? Thanx.

Look at my album pics I have a couple sizes. I started out with heritage bars on my rk they are about 8-10" give or take and cheap too ($40). you should be able to retain the stock cables. I did this as a judge to see if it helped my lower back problems and it did. Next I went to the 18" bars that got a little more expensive. The bars were 200 and the cables were about 300. The apes have helped the heck out of my back and I can ride all day long with them. I am 5'10" Hope this helps.

Its really up to you, but probly the most popler is 13" to 16". Either one mean cable change, your choice. the price for either one is around 500. +6 cables on the 13", with no wire extenions. And +9 with wire extenion on 16". This is if you do it yourself. Not a hard job, just take time and a good service manual. OH, and a couple of six packs.

I just installed 13" cyclesmiths on my SG. Them seem to be extremely comfortable on the short hops I have taken with them so far.

i have the baby apes on mine, i did need to extend the wires. the clutch cable just made it without having to change. i also ran the wires inside the bars. wasnt real hard, there is so many wires on the rk. with cruise control and everything else, the wires barely fit. more comfort? definatly.

I'm 5'10" and have 16" Chubby bars. Could have went taller. Might someday.
