Default Santee Handlebars

I was just looking at some new apes in the Custom Chrome catalog. I've been debating between the 13" cyclesmiths or the Wild 1s, and then I came across the Santee.

For one thing, they're only a hundred bucks, less than half the price of anything else. I know, I know, you get what you pay for. So, has anyone had any experience with these bars?

even more important to me than the price is that they're listed as a 31.5 inch width, while all the other apes I've looked at were 35-37. I would much rather have narrower bars than wider, so I like that a lot.

I've looked at santee too..the Black 14" or 17", 1 1/4" Apes pre drilled for internal cables, seem like a good choice, the width at the bottom of these apes are supposed to follow the width of the triple trees on Dynas as well as sportsters i.e. 10" width..most Apes I've seen are wider at the bottom and does'nt look all that good.

did either of you go with the santee bars and if so what size? I just purchased the 14in bars for my 2010 streetgilde and was wondering what length cables to go with so I could go ahead and order these so I wont have to tear down and measure the right size and be out for a couple of weeks waiting on cables to come in.

I recently installed 14 Wild 1's on my WideGlide and used plus 6 on all cables.

I have installed a set of 11" santees on a Buddy's bike and they were well made. The only thing I seen with them is I would suggest getting the fly by wire that does not have the green plug. By the way if you push the 11"s all the way up they will clear the street glide mirrors but if you have to pull them back much and you have radio controls they will block part of the mirror not bad just a little getting use to.

Some other Roadie guys i know put Santees on their Glides. The 14". Very good fit and finish especially for the price. As far as the Santee's anything over the 11" i would think would need some new cables. The Santee's have more pullback than most as well. Here are some pictures of a classic with the Black Santee's:

my santees were defective right from factory and they also have had to recall several models fro breaking welds leaving bars in your lap at speeds..

i fully regret going with santee.
