Default Rain Suits

For $30+, wear it once or twice and it's paid for itself.

Having ridden though Canada this past june, It rained 10 out of 19 days on the road. It was on again and off again with the cheap rain gear. Zippers jammed and broke. I've replaced mine with Aerostich gear. This stuff is all weather, all purpose riding gear. Not that I will... but people have ridden around the world wearing their gear.

What ever you buy make sure it has full length zippers on the legs and will breathe. Size it to go over your jacket and chaps as rain gear gives no protection in a crash.

Our Canada trip was wet 4/5 days and after the 3rd day my *** was still dry wearing the HD rain gear and the other guy was pissed off and wet because he had cheap stuff. I'm glad I dropped the $100 on the good stuff.

I agree, you get what you pay for. The cheap stuff is for guys who day ride and don't plan to ride in rain. If you tour for several days at a time and weather is, well, the weather then you will appreciate having not bragged about how cheap your rainsuit is. Buy a good set and you'll have a good set and you'll also stay dry.

spend more money.... buy gear that WORKS..... pants that don't melt on pipes, mesh lined, full lenght zippers, ample reflective material.

Cheapo suits that you pay under $50 will be fine, for that one or two times you get stuck at the bar, in a shower....

Good advice, buy a quality rain suit. Then take it out of the bag and try it on. I tried on a rain suit, bought the same size 'wrapped up in a bag'. When I opened it I found it was two sizes to small. It had been miss labelled. Also try it on at the beginning of each riding season. Some of use put on a few lbs over the winter <grin> and it might not fit.

After I saw the shipping was almost $8, I decided to spend the extra coin and get the HD packable rain suit at a 20% off sale.

We don't ride in the extremes like you guys but we have tried Frogg Toggs for the light stuff and I like my Tourmaster 1 piece for heaver/colder stuff.

Hey DLH, I like your dual sport!

Also have Frogg Toggs that fit over the leathers. I don't do sever weather riding, but I've gotten home in a few drenching rains with out much of a hassle. If I do start doing more than weekend touring we'll get something better, but for now the $80 on Frogg Toggs I've spent for the two of us have held up pretty well.

the tormaster 2 piece suit is 1 of the best on the market. 100$ for both pieces and has never left me wet if i can get it on before the rain hits!
also go to tractor suply store and get a pair of rubber overboots. around 20$ and they will keep any shoe or boot completely dry
